Design and facilitation workshops that meet Corporate expectations with Internationally Recognized Speaker and Master Trainer, Susan Armstrong.
Are you a speaker who does workshops or training?
Have you previously ran workshops but never been asked back?
Are you finding it difficult to sell your programs to corporate?
Do you question the effectiveness of your facilitation skills?
The problem is not your content – it’s how the content is put together and brought to life.
The bar in corporate training has risen over the last 5 or so years. It used to be that an expert who speaks is also an expert who can do training. Not anymore. Today, organisations expect training to be:
Practical and relevant to their organisation with tangible outcomes
70% experiential – this means that participants must spend 70% of the time engaged in relevant, practical activities that flow from one to another
Designed taking adult learning and instructional design principles into consideration
Built on a design document (that often the client will ask for ahead of time to see the “flow” of activities)
Logical, organised, and meets the stated learning objectives
This advanced* workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge to design workshops & training programs that command top dollar and will get you hired again and again!
Workshop Masterclass Day One: Designing a Workshop
Please bring your workshop or workshop idea and laptop with you to the training. This is a hands-on session that will demonstrate the theory being taught. Today, you will design (or re-design) your workshop:
Identify how different people learn (including you!)
Identify how learning styles link to the learning cycle
Create the learning objectives for your program
Create learning cycles for your learning objectives that achieve the 70/30 requirement
Design activities to enable participants to understand, comprehend and apply the knowledge you are sharing
Create a design document for your workshop/training program
Apply the templates and tools over and over again with different subject matter
Workshop Masterclass Day Two: Bringing the Content to Life
The art of training is quite different to the art of speaking. Different skills are required to bring a workshop to life. Today you will have a chance to learn master training techniques, practice those techniques with your own workshop design and get feedback and coaching:
Build adult learning principles into your training
Identify the skills and qualities of an effective trainer
Practice facilitating activities
Discover the guidelines for managing time in training
Develop skills to manage difficult participants
Practice your training program in a supportive environment and receive feedback and coaching on your facilitation skills
