If my training session went well, then why isn’t the learning being applied?
Perhaps you’ve pondered this question and the truth is, we all have. When designing training, there is a theory that isn’t well practiced when it comes to the different learning domains, which are:
- Cognitive
- Affective
- Psychomotor
Since the goal of development is transfer of learning, it requires our learning and development programs to be designed in the correct domain and at the appropriate level of learning. Within each domain resides 5-7 levels of learning. This is far more complex than many learning and development professionals realize.
This GTT Community webinar builds upon the topic of learning objectives which we explored in our previous community event. Domains in learning is the next step and an advanced skill in designing high impact training, since they determine the success of any training program. If we don’t design the program in the correct domain, we won’t achieve the desired level of learning and program outcomes.
For example, we often hear from frustrated L&D professionals that their diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) programs don’t succeed in changing behaviour. In most cases, we realize that the content was not designed in the correct domain.
In this webinar, we will explore the domain in which DE&I programs should reside, along with other popular training topics such as sales, leadership and technical skills.
Join us for this complimentary GTT Community webinar where Susan Armstrong and Giselle Kovary, Managing Partners at Global Training Transformation, will support you in being able to:
- Describe the 3 different domains in learning
- Explain the importance of designing programs in the correct domain
- Analyze the 5-7 levels of learning that reside within each domain
- Practice identifying the correct domain and level of learning for common training topics
